Summer Sunnies

I love myself a great pair of statement summer sunnies, and this season is no exception! Lately, I’ve been obsessed with all of the fun shapes and colors that have been popping up.  

Read on for my guide to the Top 5 Sunglasses Trends for Summer 2017, along with some of my fave shoppable styles. 

A California girl by upbringing, and a University of Arizona Alum (go cats!) sunglasses have been my wardrobe staple, and my saving grace after many long night, for as long as I can remember. However, it’s been quite a culture shock since moving to NYC last summer….no one wears sunglasses unless it’s sunny out! Say what? Where I come from, we wear shades all day, EVERYDAY, rain or shine. I don’t plan on changing my style anytime soon, especially with so many new adorable styles on the market.

TOP 5 SUNGLASSES TRENDS FOR SUMMER 2017:

1. Round Lenses (like this Karen Walker pair I have on above)
Kinda quirky, kinda cool, kinda classic, round lenses look great with almost any outfit, and are available in a multitude of shades and frames.

2. Oval
A classic 90’s  style, these will give that certain “what-EV-er!” to any outfit. I’ve personally been loving the nude acetate oval look.

3. Colored Lenses
70’s in style, and packed with personality, these styles have been popping up at every music festival, and all over Instagram. Choose any hue you like. My personal favorite? Rose all day.  😉

4. Ath-Cat (yes, I just made that up.)
The classic cat eye has been one of my longtime favorites, so I’ve been LOVING the updated, mirrored, more sporty, athleisure cat eyes – they let you throw major shade, without anyone seeing you. (Just kidding!) The embellished versions are also pretty amazing.

5. Aviators 
Of course, you can never go wrong with throwback, oversized aviators – they are synonymous with effortless, cool-girl, road trippin’ summer style. To get funky, try some of the geometric versions out there.
