Blue Jean Baby

Chambray and Chanel, a match made in heaven. What’s blue, and soft, and chic all over?  Denim’s sweeter side; chambray, is clearly here to stay.

There’s something about the transition from the summer months, to the fall, that makes it just a little bit harder to get dressed. I find myself overcompensating, and wanting to dress in full-scale fall attire, but this Indian summer, and the seemingly permanent Southern California sunshine always stops me in my tracks. As much as I would love to be fully outfitted in my carefully curated fall ensembles, it’s just too hot. However, I at least attempt to dress in the spirit of the season. I try to pick materials that, while still lightweight, can serve as transitional pieces during this not-so-gray period before it actually gets cold.

Enter, chambray. This buttery-soft, yet wonderfully transitional fabric, is ideal for this time of year. I also like to use chambray as a neutral; pairing it with everything from black, to brights, sparkle, tulle, even denim. Canadian tuxedo? Mais oui!

This outfit about as effortless to put together as it looks, and is one of my favorite ways to try and celebrate the change in season. Hey, it’s fall somewhere, right? What are your favorite transitional items this season?
